Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra has revealed his agent is working on striking him a new deal with LIV Golf after being let go by Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs this offseason.

Lopez-Chacarra was one of three Spaniards on the Fireballs roster, alongside captain, Garcia and David Puig. Despite his Spanish connection, however, the youngster has been released by his team after ending the 2024 campaign 39th in the standings, leaving him in the Open Zone.

With his contract with the breakaway league expiring ahead of the new season, the former college star is trying to forge his way back onto the league’s roster across one of the other 12 teams.

“My contract is up and I am out of Fireballs, but there are other teams and my agent is talking and helping me through”, Lopez-Chacarra claimed this week. Addressing his future, he continued: “I know I have a couple of meetings in Saudi, so will hopefully find out more there.”

Being let go by the Fireballs will have been tough to take for Lopez-Chacarra, who failed to find his best form in 2024. The 24-year-old did however admit he was forced to compete throughout the year whilst carrying an injury, which hampered his form on the breakaway circuit.

“It was hard for me to compete,” he added. “Which was a downer for me. Competing against the best in the world injured is very difficult. But after that, I have been playing quite solid and everyone out there knows me, and knows I am a solid player and when my putts go in, I go low.

“I think I am a trustful guy and had six good tournaments out of the 13 we play, with five affected by injury. But that’s golf, it shows how hard the competition is and how hard LIV Golf is when you are playing some of the best players in the world. I am grateful it is back to normal.

“I can now get back in shape and get my game in shape and I’m excited for sure because I love the game of golf and I love to practice and get better and now it is about getting better every day.” With LIV out of action until next February, Lopez-Chacarra has been busy away from the Saudi-backed league in recent weeks.

During the offseason, the Spaniard has competed in two DP World Tour events on home soil in the Spanish Open and Andalucia Masters, as well as the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Elsewhere, Lopez-Chacarra has played the Japan Open Golf Championship on the Japan Golf Tour, as well as the Hong Kong Open on the Asian Tour.
