Miami Dolphins general manager Chris Grier has confirmed Tyreek Hill did not request a trade during a recent meeting with team bosses.

Hill, 30, hit the headlines on Sunday by insisting he is “opening the door” for a possible exit from Miami. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel suggested Hill refused to finish the 32-20 loss to the New York Jets, suggesting the wide receiver’s time in Florida is up.

Hill then fueled speculation by changing his profile picture on X, with his face imposed over the image of Antonio Brown leaving the field during his final game for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Hill has since changed that profile picture to one of him in a Miami jersey.

Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons has even tried to recruit Hill for next season, telling the Super Bowl winner “we can be the fastest duo in the league”. Yet Grier has now tried to calm the situation by confirming that Hill has not requested a trade. “He never asked for a trade with me,” the GM told reporters while discussing his meeting with Hill.

McDaniel has also commented on the saga by describing the player’s actions as “emotional” on Tuesday. The coach explained: “We met for, I want to say, an hour yesterday. I think I was very direct with him, he was very honest, and it was great terms that we were discussing. Discussed multiple things, including, without wavering, that it’s not acceptable to leave the game and it won’t be tolerated in the future.

“He embraced accountability, and I wouldn’t say there was anything necessarily to fix as much as we had to clear the air in a rough and tumultuous situation.”

Speaking on Sunday, McDaniel suggested Hill refused to finish the loss against the Jets. He said: “I was informed he was unavailable right before a drive. I was not informed that it was a new injury. Focus was on players on the field.”

Hill, meanwhile, told reporters immediately after the game: “There’s a lot of things that I need to reassess about my career. This is the first time I haven’t been in the playoffs, I mean I just got to do what’s best for me and my family.

“If that’s here, or wherever the case it may be. I’m opening the door. I’m out bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day I got to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”

Hill is one of the most popular players currently competing in the NFL. The eight-time Pro Bowler became a household name with the Kansas City Chiefs, helping them win Super Bowl LIV in 2020 before being traded to the Dolphins two-years later.

Hill still has two years remaining on $120 million contract with Miami, worth $30 million per year. That makes him one of the highest paid receivers in the NFL, behind only Justin Jefferson ($35 million per season) CeeDee Lamb ($34 million), and A.J. Brown ($32 million).
