Davante Adams Trade Discussions Reportedly ‘Slowed Down’ as Chaos Erupts Around NFL Star’s Top Landing Spots Amid Ongoing Speculation.giang

Trade talks involving Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams have reportedly slowed down after unforeseen events rocked two of his preferred landing spots.

Last week, Adams sent shockwaves across the NFL after informing the Raiders that he would like to be traded. The 31-year-old reportedly would like to reunite with one of his former quarterbacks – the New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers or the New Orleans Saints’ Derek Carr – who he played with at the professional and collegiate levels, respectively.

Unfortunately for Adams, both the Saints and Jets endured a brutal 24 hours to begin the week. On Monday, Carr suffered an oblique injury in the fourth quarter of New Orleans’ 26-13 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks.

One day later, Jets team owner Woody Johnson announced that head coach Robert Saleh was fired just five games into the season. In his place, defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was promoted to serve as interim coach.

Due to the unfortunate developments, ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes the once red-hot trade talks surrounding Adams have now cooled down. “It’s interesting because the two teams that I think he’s got the most interest in are the Jets with Aaron Rodgers, his former quarterback, and the New Orleans Saints with Derek Carr, his former quarterback,” he said.

“But Derek Carr last night suffered an oblique injury that he described after the game as not good. Now, he was scheduled to have an MRI today to determine how much damage there is.

“If he misses any time, then the Saints’ season is at risk because they’re already struggling right now with losses the last couple of weeks. So they need to find a way to stop that bleeding.

“Davante Adams obviously would like to be in New Orleans, would like to be in New York with the Jets. There have been discussions. But I think the events in New York and the events in New Orleans may have slowed down talks with those two teams.”

Schefter asserted that Adams is still very likely to be traded, but admitted that Carr’s injury and Saleh’s ousting could impact when he’s potentially dealt. “And we’ll see if and when they can pick up some steam because everybody does expect that Davante Adams is going to be traded,” Schefter added.

“We just don’t know where and when, but right now the Jets are going through a head coaching change. New Orleans has an injured quarterback and we’ll see how that impacts Davante Adams going forward.”

Adams has missed the Raiders’ last two games after suffering a hamstring injury in practice several days prior to Las Vegas’ 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 4. Over the first three games, he reeled in 18 catches on 27 targets for 209 yards and one touchdown.
