U.S. shoppers are absolutely losing it over a British lager, thanks to the star power of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The dynamic duo recently took over Wrexham Lager, sparking a stateside frenzy after their successful stint with Wrexham AFC, catapulting the team from the National League to League One. Following their investment, the beer is now hitting the U.S. and Canada markets.
Total Wine stores have started stocking the lager, and Americans can’t get enough—Wrexham fans in the States are snatching up the brew at lightning speed. Hollywood heavyweight Reynolds celebrated the launch on social media, saying: “It’s a Thanksgiving Eve Miracle. Welcome to @WXM_Lager, now available in the U.S. Find it where wine, beer, and more are totally sold.”

Karen White, along with her husband Jason from Phoenix, Arizona, were among the first to grab the lager after loving it during a trip to North Wales last year. Karen shared their excitement, saying: “When my husband and I first visited Wrexham in 2023, having a Wrexham Lager was high on our to-do list. In fact, shortly after checking into our hotel, we ran out and got one.
“That was the first of many we consumed all over town from The Fat Boar to The Wrexham Lager Club. When Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds purchased Wrexham Lager, we had hoped that we may be able to regularly purchase the beer here at home someday in the future.
“Then one of our members told us that he not only saw the beer at a local liquor store but he purchased some and was drinking it already. Our group has been abuzz ever since with many of us running out and picking up several four-packs of the beer from all across Phoenix, where it’s fairly well stocked.”
“My husband and I bought the last two at our store, which is just under ten miles from our home.”

The dynamic duo of Reynolds and McElhenney, along with the Allyn family from New York who recently invested in Wrexham AFC, have sparked a frenzy with their acquisition of Wrexham Lager. This excitement has led to plans for a new, larger brewery in the heart of Wrexham city centre.
Karen said: “Though not as good as enjoying it in Wrexham with our Welsh friends, I am so thankful that it’s more readily available here in America. It’s a small slice of Wrexham in our backyard.”
Meanwhile, Wrexham’s American supporters are in for a treat as they’ll get to experience some of the club’s upcoming matches in an almost real-life way. The League One team is set to have its home game against Barnsley on Tuesday broadcasted at immersive reality venues in the States.
This groundbreaking move by CBS Sports and Cosm, which operates theaters in Los Angeles and Dallas, marks a first for the team, with a total of six matches scheduled to be aired. Fans can also look forward to Wrexham’s clashes with Birmingham City and Huddersfield later in the season.
