A General Manager of one of LIV Golf’s 13 franchises has revealed that they have fielded calls from players wanting to join the breakaway league, with two big offers in particular on the table.
LIV’s offseason transfer window opened up earlier this month, which allows teams to trade players between themselves, whilst also bringing in players from elsewhere. It remains to be seen whether any members of the PGA Tour and DP World Tour will make the move for 2025, but according to one GM, there is plenty of interest.
“Two guys that had very big offers that are now calling would love to be on [a LIV team] and said that was the worst decision they made is not accepting the offer and coming over,” an unnamed GM told Sports Illustrated.

“Young players that are playing well in the PGA tour, young kids that are coming out of college, that PGA Tour U is a huge, huge thing now and, you know, trying to identify somebody that’s potentially looking to turn pro.” The source added: “My phone’s been ringing nonstop.
“Basically since right before Dallas [LIV Team Championship things are starting to happen from either player directly or agents calling exploring and wanting to look at the possibility of coming on [LIV team].” As things stand, no deals have been confirmed, but Mirror Sports understands that announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
Five spots on the LIV roster have become available following the relegation of Bubba Watson (RangeGoats) Kalle Samooja (Cleeks GC), Scott Vincent (IronHeads), Kieran Vincent (Legion XIII), and Branden Grace (Stinger). Watson’s situation is slightly different, with the former PGA Tour star one of the league’s 15 captains.

Despite captains being no longer exempt from relegation, Watson is able to submit a business proposal to LIV bosses over making a return to the RangeGoats roster for 2024. Elsewhere, the other four spots will need to be filled, but Samooja, Grace, and the two Vincents can play their way back via LIV Promotions.
Players in the Open Zone who have no contract heading into 2025 are also at risk of losing their spot on the LIV circuit in 2025. Two of Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces teammates Pat Perez and Harold Varner III both fall in this category, and per the report, Johnson and co are keen to bring in some younger blood.
The curious case of LIV wildcards is still yet to be confirmed for next season too. In 2024, two wildcard spots were taken by Hudson Swafford and the returning Anthony Kim. Whilst it has been rumored that the wildcard slots may be altered, it is now believed that Kim will regain his playing rights for 2025.
