Ahead of their 2024 Elite Eight rematch, Reese was also quick to clarify to ESPN that there’s no bad blood with Clark, saying: “I don’t think people realize it’s not personal. I think people just take it like we hate each other. Me and Caitlin Clark don’t hate each other. I want everybody to understand that.”
Despite what might be misconstrued as a rivalry by fans, both athletes have shown mutual support while excelling on the court and even teamed up in the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game. Clark broke records left and right this season, dominating in scoring, three-pointers, and leading with an average of 8.4 assists per game.
Reese has made a name for herself too, becoming known as the ‘rebound queen’ among rookies with an average of 13 rebounds per game. She also scored an average of 13 points each game, as she sets her sights on establishing her own legacy in professional basketball.
NFL legend Tom Brady was caught off guard when New York Giants quarterback Drew Lock called ‘Gobble, Gobble’ when attempting a sneak against the Dallas Cowboys.
In the second of three NFL games held on Thanksgiving, the Giants were at 3rd-and-1 in the first quarter and trailing by three points after Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey put Dallas on the board. The Giants were at the 50-yard line and attempting to break into Cowboys territory, when Lock called ‘Gobble, Gobble’ to get the yard required and continue the drive.
The Cowboys read the quarterback sneak and stopped Lock, and the FOX broadcasting crew were left amazed as play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt said: “I can’t believe the ‘Gobble, Gobble’ call didn’t work, did you hear them?” Co-commentator Brady then replied: “That might have been their audible to the sneak, the ‘Gobble, Gobble.’ It usually works on this day.”
Lock’s failure to convert on third down didn’t matter, as running back Tyrone Tracy picked up two yards on the following play as the Giants elected to go for it. Tracy ended up finishing that drive with a touchdown, handing the Giants their first lead in an NFL game since Oct. 6.
Tracy bundled into the end zone from the one-yard line, after Lock completed a 28-yard rush but was stopped short. It was the first time that the Giants had a lead to defend since a 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks, although it didn’t last.
Shortly after the Cowboys settled for another Aubrey field goal, Lock was intercepted as DeMarvion Overshown caught his own tip and ran all the way into the end zone for a pick six. The Cowboys linebacker did all of the work himself, and ensured that the Giants were only ahead for six minutes and 37 seconds.
Overshown was selected in the third round (90th overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Texas, but was ruled out of his rookie season after suffering a torn ACL. Overshown was carted off the field during a preseason game against the Seahawks and had to wait until this season to make his NFL debut.
The linebacker recorded a sack in his first game against the Cleveland Browns, and has been one of the bright sparks for Dallas in a disappointing year for the Cowboys. Overshown has become a fan favorite, especially after he claimed that the Cowboys still run the state of Texas.
The 4-7 Cowboys have been left behind by the Houston Texans, who are leading the AFC South with a 7-5 record. Overshown was extremely confident when facing the Texans in Week 11, but was humbled after a heavy 34-10 loss.
“When its the battle for Texas, especially with them having the season that theyre having, a team that theyre thinking that they run the state,” Overshown said. “Even though its a down year for us, we still run the state of Texas. So we got to go out there with that pride and that mindset of this is still our state and were still the big brothers.”
