Aaron Rodgers has made it clear that any rumors concerning his future with the New York Jets are “100 percent false” – especially since the quarterback is yet to decide whether he has another season in him.

Rodgers’ stint with the Jets has been mired with inconsistencies, with the team struggling with the four-time MVP both on and off the field. This season, New York has stumbled mightily in what was to be a bounce-back season for the 40-year-old who returned after tearing his Achilles tendon after four snaps last year.

Despite trading for star wideout Davante Adams and firing head coach Robert Saleh, the Jets are still among the worst teams in the league, currently sitting at 3-8. Considering how dire the situation is in New York, Rodgers maintains he enjoys being part of the Jets organization and would like to remain with the team.

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers denied recent reports that he’s ready to move on from the Jets. “As far as my future goes, I haven’t told anybody in my life that I want to play in 2025 and not on the Jets, so that’s 100 percent false,” Rodgers began.

“I actually said the opposite. I said that I’m going to wait and see what happens at the end of the season and if they want me back and what happens with Brick [Johnson] and what happens with the offensive staff and obviously the GM at the time, and then they just fired Joe [Douglas].

“There’s a lot of things out of my control when it comes to that, but I’ve really enjoyed my time in New York.”

Rodgers did suggest he could ride off into the sunset after the disastrous 2024 season, though. “I don’t even know if I want to play yet, but New York will be my first option,” he said.

Rodgers mentioning Brick, the son of Jets co-owner Woody Johnson, is interesting, considering many reporters around the NFL believe the Harvard student is the GM of the team, often making decisions based on social media posts.

Along with waiting and seeing what happens with the team, Rodgers reiterated that while the Jets undergo changes, he would like to remain with the franchise. Additionally, Rodgers admitted that he himself doesn’t have an idea if he wants to grind through a full season again.

“Obviously, we haven’t had the success that we’ve all wanted to have, but I’ve made some great friendships on the team,” he continued.

“I’ve enjoyed living in Jersey, I’ve enjoyed my time in the city, I’ve enjoyed getting to know the fans and I came here to win here, so I’m not jumping off the ship, like ‘Oh, I definitely want to play and not in New York.’ I don’t even know if I want to play yet, but New York will be my first option.”

Rodgers’ statement puts to bed any speculation on what his future might hold and further cements interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich’s comments about the quarterback’s usage for the rest of the season. With the Jets struggling this season, many have pondered what will happen to Rodgers, with Ulbrich clarifying his stance on the former Super Bowl champion’s status.

“All I can say — and you’d have to ask Aaron if he’s fully healthy — but he’s better off today than he’s been as of late,” Ulbrich told reporters. “So he’s definitely feeling healthier than he has for probably the last month, and a healthy Aaron Rodgers is the Aaron Rodgers we all love. So, excited about what that looks like.

“I think we’re both people that are — not to say I’m completely void of the knowledge of what’s going on outside this building — but my focus is here and what I can control. I think he feels the same way. From that standpoint, we’ve been on the same page from the beginning of this.”
