Rob Gronkowski is absent from this weekend’s FOX NFL Sunday broadcast due to a commitment in New Hampshire with Dick’s House of Sport.

Speculation about his absence began when it was announced that Dallas Cowboys legend Jimmy Johnson would fill his spot on the panel.

This announcement follows an awkward moment in a previous show where four-time SuperBowl champion Terry Bradshaw mistakenly referred to Gronkowski as a temporary stand-in for Johnson.

Fellow panelist Michael Strahan corrected Bradshaw, as he said: “He’s not filling in; he’s here all the time.” Gronkowski also said: “Wow, yeah, I’m part of the show, Terry.” Bradshaw quickly apologized: “Okay, I made a mistake. All right, I apologize, Gronk. You know I love you.”

The reason for Gronkowski’s absence this weekend is simple – he will be at the grand opening of a new Dick’s House of Sport store in Salem, New Hampshire on Sunday, November 24, from 12pm until 1:30pm.

Rob Gronkowski arrives prior to the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for Tom Brady at Gillette Stadium on June 12, 2024 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Gronkowski is set to miss his spot on the NFL Sunday show due to a prior commitment in New Hampshire, which he announced on Instagram.

On social media, he wrote: “I’ll be at @dickshouseofsport in Salem on Sunday from 12:00 – 1:30pm. Come by to see me and check out the new store” #dkspartner.”

FOX had earlier confirmed their NFL Sunday line-up on social media, featuring Curt Menefee, Terry Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson, Michael Strahan, Howie Long, and Jay Glazer as analysts.
