Jake Paul enters the ring for the biggest night of his boxing career when he fights Mike Tyson on Friday night – but the YouTuber does not need the bout for a quick payday.
Paul’s boxing journey reaches a pivotal night as ‘The Problem Child’ faces the 58-year-old former heavyweight world champion at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Entering the fight with a 10-1 record, with his only defeat coming against Tommy Fury via split decision.
The unlucky stories of Paul and Tyson’s lives come together with the two experiencing completely contrasting journeys to reach this point. ‘Iron Mike’ become the youngest heavyweight world champion of all-time at 20 years old, while at the same age, Paul was well underway in his entertainment career.

Paul is expected to earn at least twice as much as Tyson, revealing his own purse to be worth $40million. That figure half of what his reported estimated net worth of $80m is, signifying how big of an opportunity it is for the 27-year-old.
“I didn’t bring him to do s—; I’m here to make $40million and knock out a legend,” he said. “I don’t give a f— about anything else, he’s the one who wanted it to be a pro fight and he’s going to get his a– knocked out for real. You’re going to see on his record; Jake Paul KOs Mike Tyson; I’m not here to do s— except make a bag.
“Every time fighters sit across from me and it’s ‘YouTuber this and Disney kid that’ and they end up on the canvas… this is going to be no different. I brought this deal to this old ass motherf—–, we signed the contract with Netflix and we brought him the deal. You’re welcome my son.”
Paul has accumulated his fortune through his years as a YouTuber, influencer, and actor. After launching his YouTube career in 2014, Paul found fame on discontinued social media platform Vine and was hired onto the set of the Disney Channel series Bizaardvark.
After leaving Disney, Paul focused on his own personal brand and launched an entertainment collective, Team 10. He has also ventured into the music business before launching sports business, startups and investments.
Paul was asked recently what he will spend his purse on, to which he replied: “That’s a good question, with this money I’m probably going to invest it. Maybe I will buy some more property to be honest, but I have everything I need right now. When I’m old I want to buy a Super Bowl commercial but not right now, maybe when I’m 45.”

The Ohio-born personality revealed he and Tyson can boost their fight earnings through certain bonuses. “There are definitely certain guaranteed figures and other certain built-in bonuses and stuff on top of sales – key performance indicators that trigger certain things,” he said. “This is definitely my biggest payday, of all the fights for sure. It is definitely a healthy payday.”
Tyson is also expected to earn more than $10m from his first fight in four years and his first professional outing in almost 20. But he admitted his purse will not be life-changing. “I could be waiting on a check every day from cannabis,” he said while commentating at an MMA event.
“That’s bull—- for me. I’m a man; I want to go out there and I want to expose myself to risk. Sometimes I want to see who I really am. I want to see what I’m really made out of. I want to perform in front of the world. To me, that’s all I ever knew how to do since I was 14. This fight is not going to change my life financially enough. This is just what I want to do.”
