Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have officially ended their relationship after nearly 10 months of dating. On October 30, a source confirmed to People that the couple has split, with The Weeknd unfollowing both Selena and her family on Instagram.
Sources revealed that the couple had been facing challenges in their relationship for the past few months, largely due to their busy schedules—The Weeknd on tour and Selena working in New York. Despite Selena’s efforts to support him by attending his shows, the distance ultimately took a toll. “They broke up but still keep in touch,” the source noted.
In the wake of the breakup, Selena has been seen spending time with her ex, Justin Bieber, sparking rumors of a potential reconciliation. They were spotted together at church and having breakfast, and Justin even visited Selena at her home with friends. However, sources maintain that they are not reigniting their past romance.
Selena and The Weeknd went public with their relationship earlier this year, frequently appearing together on red carpets and traveling together on tour. Last summer, Selena revealed she had undergone a kidney transplant due to Lupus complications, which added additional stress to their relationship.
Selena and Justin’s on-again, off-again relationship spanned from 2011 to 2014, during which they broke up multiple times. Reflecting on their past in a 2016 interview with W, Selena admitted to feeling heartbroken over their split but stated she never wanted to return to that chapter of her life, saying, “I was so tired.”
